WOODHEAD

BRITISH ‘N’ GAUGE

Built by Gary Atkinson

Woodhead is a model of the now closed station on the ex GC/LNER Manchester to Sheffield line which gave its name to the entire route.  The layout features the line during its later years when the 1500v DC overhead electrification was in full operation, from 1954 to the lines closure in 1981, so look out for plenty of electric hauled services.

The EM1 (later class 76) and EM2 (later class 77) locomotives used on the layout are heavily modified resin body kits, formerly made by Cenpro, running on Minitrix class 27 chassis.  The overhead catenary, large electricity pylon and associated equipment were all scratch built from brass section.
