Tuscarora Mine

'On30' Gauge by John Green

The name Tuscarora came from an article in the Railway Modeller in the 1960's whilst the track plan featured in Loco Revue in the 90's, as a way of exploiting the potential of the new Fleischmann Magic Train system. It attempted to put a lot of 7mm railway in a small space and the new Tuscarora takes this a step further.  The scene depicts a steep valley in a mining area of the Colorado Rockies, sometime in the late 30's and 1940's.  Traffic is mostly mining related with the occasional passenger service calling at the diminutive depot.
The trackwork is PECO 0 16.5 with a cartridge fiddle yard system. Rolling stock is entirely r-t-r Bachmann, at the moment but with a number of trans-kits in the 'shops'. All the structure s are scratch built, by fellow club members, on a foam- board shell, with the exception of the depot, which is a Banta 'S' scale kit.
