Back in the late 1970s while I was conducting research into
the “Woodhead route” for a themed N Gauge layout, my father and I
ended up at “Sheffield Victoria” station after a field trip to take
photographs.I took some 80
extra slides that day of the station, just before it was consigned to
history as the demolition contractors had already moved in. The first
project resulted in the Parkwood Springs / Brookside layout built
between 1978-80.For the
following years I often returned to the photos of “Sheffield
Victoria” to try to work out a practical small layout design; 3 years
ago I finally got on with it and made a start on its construction. What
you now see is the progress so far. It’s certainly not finished by any means but it is getting
there.Further information came from books and other photographs,
some from friends and others found on the internet. Most of the stock
was built for use on the old “Brookside” layout which has now been
sold on, but the catch phrase remains the same; NO Item is running straight from the box
