Idleforde Junction is a 4mm Scale
layout produced by members of the society. Its location is fictitious and the period modelled is flexible, depending
upon the rolling stock of the membership. The
layout is split into two levels, the lower level depicts a mainline through
station with a single track branch line electrified with the 1500v DC overhead
system so that EM1 and EM2 locomotive hauled services to be operated.
On the upper level is a small branch line station which is connected to the
lower level by ramps enabling services to run between the two stations.

The layout measures 22ft x 8ft and
is centre operated. A wide variety of standard gauge rolling stock and
motive power will be on display reflecting the varied interests of club members.
All of the trackwork is PECO streamline with electrofrog points operated
by either PECO or SEEP point motors.

baseboards are made from 6mm plywood covered with 1.6mm cork sheet supported on
lightweight timber legs.

The recently remodelled branchline station 'Idleforde's End' with a passenger train arriving.
Due to our impending change of clubrooms, Idleforde Junction has now been sold.
After attending Spalding Model Railway Exhibition in November 2005, it left the UK for Spain, where it
became part of a permanent model
railway exhibition. The layout has since been re-sold and now belongs to a
private individual in Spain. The following images were taken during its swansong
appearance, click onto a picture for the full size version.
